World of Mirth from Ed Tracy
Some of you may recognize this flatcar as #55 on the Circus World Museum train after they bought the WOM train.

The white wagon in front of the cat dolly was the train shanty which was the name for the train generator. It was always left at the train and I never saw it go to the lot. I remember when they would arrive here and start unloading on Sunday night before the Fair they would almost have half the train unloaded by the time they got the lights stung on the flats and the shanty wagon generator running. The unloading would draw crowds of people. The Fairgrounds were right across the street from the runs so it was a really short haul. They would also hire a local trucking company to help them pull the wagons to the lot and back to the train after teardown on Saturday night. The company`s name is N.W. White Trucking, they are still in business here in Columbia today.
I performed from 1973 to 1995 with a couple years off in between. I did an aerial cradle act for three years, low wire as a clown, trained llamas, ponies, then lions and tigers for 15 years. I am now a firefighter, a member of the Circus Historical Society and an author of several circus and carnival related subjects.
