Ammo cages
I never paid attention until a good friend told me today that this Side Show air Calliope was an ammo wagon chassis as well.

Bob, This indeed was one of the original ammo cages. It was #70 and was only used as a cage for the 1949 season. In 1952 it was reconfigured into the midway calliope. Don't know why they dropped from 12 to 11 cages though. Dom
I performed from 1973 to 1995 with a couple years off in between. I did an aerial cradle act for three years, low wire as a clown, trained llamas, ponies, then lions and tigers for 15 years. I am now a firefighter, a member of the Circus Historical Society and an author of several circus and carnival related subjects.
