Paul Jones began as the "black" artist who drew the key litho stone image from which copies were transferred to other stones on which the several colors were then produced, one color per stone. He was famous in Cincinnati for the elaborate floats he designed as entries in the annual Cincinnati Fall Festival parades, winning first place the first year of 1900.

There were other Strobridge artists who gained fame beyond their work at the printing company, including "Long" John Reilly who was a professional baseball player in the 1880s!
