1887 Barnum & Forepaugh Courier

This gorgeous 16 page courier was discussed on Worthpoint.com by fellow CHS member Larry Kellogg in 2009. At the time, he felt this was worth around $200.00. Why is it worth so much?

It was the only time that the Barnum and London show and the Adam Forepaugh show combined to play in Madison Square Garden. They also joined forces one other time in 1886 in Philadelphia.

The Barnum show was owned by P.T. Barnum, J.L. Hutchison, W.W. Cole and James E. Cooper in 1887. Hutchison, Cole and Cooper would all be gone by 1888 when James A. Bailey became the partner that truly made "The Greatest Show on Earth".
