I found this great 8 x 10 in my dad's stuff tonight. The back is stamped as a Bob Lorenz photo out of Fremont, Ohio. That's about 15 miles from where my folks live. It is dated as 1951 in Zanesville, Ohio.
The cage cut is on the right side with #82 in front having the jungle motif painted on the front. Is #82 the Rhino cage at the CWM now? Of course the ammo cages are behind there. What a really clear photo.

Makes me wish I was there --- right now !
Ditto!
No 8 dining dept baggage on the front of the next cut. Great picture Bob, see you in 3 weeks !
Hi Bob,
Great photo. Thanks for sharing it with us.
Ringling played Zanesville on July 2,1951 if that will help date the photo.
Yes #82 Rhino cage is currently at the Circus World Museum along with #85 Hippo cage and #73 ammo cage.
Best regards,
Dom Yodice
I've got a really dumb question. After the cookhouse cut was unloaded, were those ramps moved over to the cage cut or did the cage cut have its own ramps to work with?
Bob,
Not a dumb question.
Each cut of flats had their own set of runs.
Actually they had two sets of runs for each cut, there being one set at each end of the cut for loading and unloading.
Hope that helps.
Dom
Many Thanks, Dom! I was wondering about the loading end also. That makes a lot of sense.
Bob
As Ringling closed shows (Sparks and Barnes equipment going to Sarasota) its very likely some of the many sets of runs came from these shows as well. Always wondered about the history of the set or sets at CWM. How many sets are at CWM?
That's a great question. I know there were several sets up there. What is the history of them, I don't know. Does anyone have any ideas?
Bob
