Peru, Indiana Winter Quarters

This was glued in my uncle's scrapbooks. The White # 16 in the bottom right hand corner leads me to believe that this is a Wm. Koford photo that was distributed by Al Conover.

From Good Friend Steve Flint:

Dear Bob-

I believe the wagon that you have posted on Wednesdays list (neg #16) is actually the Cole Bros. WQ's in Rochester, IN. The wagon came from the Christy Bros. plunder purchased in 1934-35 and was known as "the yellow tab." It was not used until 1939 (carvings still intact). The BW SO 67 issue page 18 photo #6 shows it on a flat with the carvings/wood wheels. After the devastating WQ's fire in 1940 the show moved to Louisville, KY. The BW JA 77 issue page 22 photo #24 shows the wagon in 1942 minus the carvings and the wheels were replaced with hard rubber wheels. It was being used as a standard baggage wagon to haul lighting and the PA system. It was replaced in 1943 by a new (generic looking) baggage wagon with carnival type wheels. Those wagons were all about 7 feet square and had the noticeable strap braces set on an angle on the corners. The Cole show didn't winter in Peru (Jacobs old farm) until the end of 1950.
