Great photo of the stake driver in action. Cold morning with the exhaust steaming upward with the flywheel really turning. End of the season close by as the wagon shows the wear and tear of a long season and the very short wooden stake in the man's hands at the side door. Looks like it lost about 18 inches or so during the year. p.j.
I performed from 1973 to 1995 with a couple years off in between. I did an aerial cradle act for three years, low wire as a clown, trained llamas, ponies, then lions and tigers for 15 years. I am now a firefighter, a member of the Circus Historical Society and an author of several circus and carnival related subjects.
