Cole Bros. Circus Stakedriver
Here is the Stake Driver from the inaugural 1935 season of Cole Bros. Circus. There are people much wiser than I that know the history of these wagons in detail. I'm not sure which issue of Bandwagon its in ( that can be found on the Circus Historical Society website ) but I do remember Fred Dahlinger writing a very good article about stake drivers that is well worth the read.
I performed from 1973 to 1995 with a couple years off in between. I did an aerial cradle act for three years, low wire as a clown, trained llamas, ponies, then lions and tigers for 15 years. I am now a firefighter, a member of the Circus Historical Society and an author of several circus and carnival related subjects.
