Stirring the pot. Looks like an oar off of someone's boat!

  1. Bob- I am answering here instead of at the picture below because of the view here of the hoses.

    Yes they were cooking paste, which was done by putting the end of a steam hose in the pot and letting it bubble for awhile.

    They would put a little "bluestone" in the mixture to keep it from souring. From chemistry class over fifty years ago I think that is copper sulphate.
