Orchestmelachor # 2

This is a grand photo in the Conover photo collection that shows what the Orchestmelachor wagon looked like when it was originally crafted.

This was a later build up from what the wagon originally looked like when built in the 1860s, one of a pair. It had only the lower tier with the very wide oval and circular frames at each end along with a center sculptor. After it arrived on the Barnum show, a Liberty Bell replaced the center sculpture for the 1876 Centennial season. The build up seen here with a mechanical organ happened under the Barnum & London regime.
