This was a later build up from what the wagon originally looked like when built in the 1860s, one of a pair. It had only the lower tier with the very wide oval and circular frames at each end along with a center sculptor. After it arrived on the Barnum show, a Liberty Bell replaced the center sculpture for the 1876 Centennial season. The build up seen here with a mechanical organ happened under the Barnum & London regime. Dick Flint Baltimore
I performed from 1973 to 1995 with a couple years off in between. I did an aerial cradle act for three years, low wire as a clown, trained llamas, ponies, then lions and tigers for 15 years. I am now a firefighter, a member of the Circus Historical Society and an author of several circus and carnival related subjects.
