Letterheads anyone?
Before the advent of Promo Photos, just about everyone advertised their specialties with a custom designed Letterhead. There is one show Letterhead in particular that I can think of that was basically a stock unit with different show titles applied, but almost every performer had their own unique Letterhead. This ad was in the Billboard on August 4, 1906, on Page 33.
I performed from 1973 to 1995 with a couple years off in between. I did an aerial cradle act for three years, low wire as a clown, trained llamas, ponies, then lions and tigers for 15 years. I am now a firefighter, a member of the Circus Historical Society and an author of several circus and carnival related subjects.
